Service Agreement for Reporting Stolen Valor
Effective Date: July 26, 2025
This Service Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between Verified Veterans LLC, a limited liability company with its principal place of business in San Bernardino, CA (“Company” or “Verified Veterans”), and the individual submitting a report of suspected Stolen Valor (“Submitter” or “You”).
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Agreement is to outline the terms under which the Submitter reports instances of suspected Stolen Valor to Verified Veterans for investigation. Stolen Valor refers to fraudulent claims of military service or honors that undermine the integrity of authentic veterans’ sacrifices. By submitting a report, You engage Verified Veterans to review and investigate the provided information in accordance with our mission to combat Stolen Valor through advocacy, education, and verification efforts.
2. Reporting Process
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information in Your report, including any supporting evidence such as documents, links, or descriptions of the alleged misconduct.
- Verified Veterans will review the report and, if deemed appropriate, initiate an investigation.
- Submission of a report constitutes Your acceptance of this Agreement.
3. Confidentiality and Privacy
- Submitter’s Information: All personal information provided by You, including Your name, contact details, and any identifying data, will remain strictly confidential. Verified Veterans will not disclose Your identity or any details about You to third parties, except as required by law or to comply with legal processes.
- No Disclosure to Accused: The accused individual or entity (“Accused”) will not be given any information regarding the Submitter, including Your identity, contact information, or any details that could lead to Your identification.
- Supporting Documents: All supporting documents, evidence, or materials submitted by You will be held securely and in confidence. Verified Veterans will use industry-standard security measures to protect such materials from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Documents will only be accessed by authorized personnel involved in the investigation and will not be retained longer than necessary for the purposes of the investigation, unless required by law.
4. Acknowledgment of Presumption of Innocence
- You acknowledge and agree that the Accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise through a fair and thorough investigation.
- Verified Veterans does not make determinations of guilt or innocence but aims to verify claims and promote accountability based on evidence.
5. Investigation Process
- Contact with Accused: During the investigation, a Verified Veterans investigator will attempt to contact the Accused to obtain their side of the story and any evidence they may wish to provide in their defense. This ensures a balanced and fair review of the allegations.
- Evidence Review: The investigation will involve evaluating the submitted evidence, any responses from the Accused, and other relevant information.
- Unable to Contact Accused: If the investigator is unable to contact the Accused after reasonable attempts, and the evidence supplied by You demonstrates that the accusations are factual, Verified Veterans may proceed with appropriate actions, such as public disclosure or further advocacy. In such cases, the Accused retains the right to appeal any findings or actions taken by Verified Veterans upon becoming aware of them. Appeals must be submitted in writing to Verified Veterans within a reasonable timeframe, and Verified Veterans will review the appeal promptly and fairly.
6. Limitations and Disclaimers
- Verified Veterans provides this service on a voluntary basis and makes no guarantees regarding the outcome of any investigation.
- You agree that Verified Veterans is not liable for any damages arising from the submission of a report, the investigation process, or any decisions made based on the investigation.
- This Agreement does not create an attorney-client relationship or any other professional advisory relationship.
7. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be resolved in the courts located in San Bernardino County, California.
8. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements. It may be amended only in writing signed by both parties.
9. Acceptance
By submitting a report of Stolen Valor to Verified Veterans, You acknowledge that You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.
